although the tempo is 151 ppm this track sounds very slow and deliberate. this is a dense track with dozens of percussion instruments, and a variety of synths & samples of electronic & acoustic instruments. it is one of the most intensive and drawn out tracks I've put together. it took 6 months off & on of arranging, substituting instrument voices & mixing & EQ'ing. I think it stands up. I usually bang out tracks in a few days. |
Story Behind the Song:
no literal translation, the dueling rhythms, melodies, and instrumentation tell the story of a prostitute (rosebud) and her pimp (fast money). a meeting of minds & bodies happens at 2:51 and things are resolved in another fit of sex/lovemaking (depending on who you ask), and the relationship is sadly corrected and it's back to business. que sera sera. |
